The people who make it happen: Meet Jake Denford

What’s your full name and preferred nickname?
Jacob Denford – but everyone calls me Jake.

Tell us a bit about your background. What led you to the world of earthmoving attachments with SBA?
I’ve got a strong sales background, and the opportunity to be part of something big in the industry brought me here.

What was your first job, and what did it teach you about the working world?
I started out as a Boilermaker, which taught me that putting in the effort always pays off.

What excites you most about your role at SBA?
Helping drive SBA’s expansion into Western Australia—big things are happening! Expanding to the west means welcoming new teammates and building relationships with new industry clients. The mining industry is one of the biggest in WA, and I’m looking forward to helping SBA make a real impact in this space.

What’s your favourite SBA attachment and why?
The WA700 Quarry Bucket—it’s an absolute beast! Built tough for heavy-duty applications, it can handle the harshest conditions and the biggest loads with ease. Designed for maximum efficiency and durability, it’s the go-to bucket for serious quarry and mining operations. If you need something that won’t back down from a challenge, this is it!

How do you kickstart your workday? Coffee, tea, or exercise?
Exercise first, then coffee. If time allows, a quick swim at the beach in between.

What’s one skill or hobby you have that might surprise us?
I’ve got a singing voice that’s somewhere between Fergie and Jesus.

What’s your go-to way to unwind after a long day?
Either a solid gym session or a good run.

If you could have any superpower to help you with your job, what would it be?
The ability to read minds—would make sales a whole lot easier! Understanding exactly what a customer is thinking would take the guesswork out of negotiations, help tailor solutions on the spot, and close deals faster. No more second-guessing objections or figuring out what truly drives a client’s decision-making—it’d be the ultimate sales person!

How do you like to celebrate a job well done?
A well-earned beer and some top-notch food.

Any additional thoughts or fun facts about yourself that you’d like to share?
Want to know more about me? Reach out for a chat—I’m always up for a good conversation! Who knows, I might even sell you a bucket or two in the process.

What does Dig It Pink mean to you?
It’s all about supporting a great cause and making a difference for those in need.
