SBA & The McGrath Foundation
This September marks the launch of another year of Dig It Pink – and before we get into what’s ahead, we want to stop and acknowledge what’s behind us.
Seven years ago, SBA launched Dig It Pink as a way to channel something personal into something useful. Since then, our community has donated $110,000 to the McGrath Foundation. We want to say something about that number before we go again.
It isn’t SBA’s achievement. It’s yours.
Where It Started
Dig It Pink was never a marketing campaign. It started because the Salmon family and the McGrath Foundation share something personal – a bond between two families that understood what cancer does to the people around it. When we launched in 2019, donating profits from every pink attachment felt less like a corporate decision and more like something we simply had to do.
What we didn’t fully anticipate was how our clients would respond.
Year after year, the calls came in. Customers placing orders and asking – unprompted – to have them done in pink. Machines rolling onto job sites in that colour. Foremen asking what it was about. A conversation starter that turned into a community, and a community that turned into $110,000.
That milestone is yours. Every pink bucket, every pink hitch, every attachment that left our factory in that colour was a choice someone on your end made. Watch our milestone video to see what seven years of those choices have built.
What $110,000 Actually Means
The McGrath Foundation funds Cancer Care Nurses who provide free, expert support to people and families navigating a cancer diagnosis. Not treatment. Not medication. The human support that sits alongside those things – the nurse who knows your name, who shows up week after week, who holds things together when everything else feels like it’s falling apart.
Right now, that means 423 nurses across Australia. More than 181,000 families who have had someone in their corner. Over 294,000 hours of care for people facing the hardest thing they’ll ever go through.
From 2025, the Foundation expanded its mission to fund All Cancer Nurses – providing support to people and families regardless of the type of cancer they’re facing. Every dollar raised through Dig It Pink backs that broader network of care.
A Partnership That Goes Beyond One Month
Our commitment to the McGrath Foundation isn’t confined to a single campaign period. There are moments throughout the year when the Foundation’s work comes into focus, and that we make a point to acknowledge.
Each January, the Pink Test turns the SCG pink during the Sydney Test match – one of Australia’s most recognisable charity events, and a powerful reminder of how broadly the Foundation’s mission reaches into Australian life.
International Nurses Day (12 May) is the day the Foundation pauses to recognise the Cancer Care Nurses doing this work on the ground every day. These are the people our pink attachment sales fund. A day worth marking.
And this September, the Foundation’s annual Giving Day gave SBA the opportunity to go further. We joined as a matching donor partner – committing to match every dollar donated on the day, dollar for dollar.
Giving Day 2026
On 17 September 2026, the McGrath Foundation held their annual Giving Day – and SBA stood alongside the Foundation’s community as a matching donor partner.
Total raised on Giving Day: $941,000
SBA’s Matching Donation: $10,000
Through Giving Day, and with the incredible support of our customers purchasing Pink attachments, SBA helped turn $10,000 in donations into $20,000 for McGrath Cancer Care Nurses. We’re incredibly proud to support this initiative for the second year running and grateful to everyone who helped us double the impact. It’s a new dimension to a partnership that started with a personal connection, and one we’re proud to be building on.
Twenty-One Years of Care
This year, the McGrath Foundation celebrates 21 years of delivering expert, compassionate care to Australians going through cancer. Two decades of placing skilled nurses into communities that need them. Two decades of being there when the diagnosis changes everything.
We’re proud that the SBA community has been part of that story – not just as donors, but as a visible presence on job sites across the country that says this industry gives a damn.
Dig It Pink 2026 – The Campaign Is Open
Dig It Pink 2026 is now open and runs through to September 2027.
If you have an attachment order coming up, make it pink. Buckets, hitches, grabs – anything leaving our factory during the campaign period can be done in pink, with profits going directly to the McGrath Foundation to fund Cancer Care Nurses across Australia.
To place an order, contact the SBA sales team and let us know you’d like it in pink. For the full story on the campaign, visit our Dig It Pink page.
This year, we’re going for our biggest campaign yet. We hope you’ll be part of it.
From Our Team to Yours
At SBA, we’ve always believed this industry is tougher than it looks and kinder than it gets credit for. The response to Dig It Pink since our first campaign has reinforced that every year – and the $110,000 raised says it louder than we can.
If you want to understand what the McGrath Foundation has built over 20 years, their Stories of Care page is worth reading. And if you’ve never ordered pink before – there’s no better time.
To every client who has already been part of this: you made this happen. Thank you.
