Ridgeworth Civil is a civil construction company based in Bundaberg, Queensland. Founded just over two years ago, the company has rapidly grown under the leadership of Tom, who brings a wealth of experience from the mining, civil, electrical, and construction sectors. Tom’s journey into civil construction started at just four years old when a Bobcat visited his mum’s property—an experience that sparked a lifelong fascination with heavy machinery. Determined from a young age to build something of his own, Tom worked hard through the mining industry and spent years saving and contracting until he was ready to launch Ridgeworth Civil.
As Ridgeworth Civil started to grow, a few challenges surfaced—nothing out of the ordinary for a young business on the rise. One of the main things Tom noticed was the ongoing hassle with servicing his current excavators. Delays and poor communication sometimes made it tough to keep projects running smoothly, and increased costs. Additionally, some of the older machines lacked the modern technology needed to work at peak efficiency. Without up-to-date systems, it was challenging to stay ahead of the competition and get optimum returns from every job.
But instead of letting these issues slow him down, Tom saw them as a sign it was time to level up—by investing in better gear and building stronger relationships with suppliers who could deliver the support his growing business needed.
To keep the business moving in the right direction, Tom knew it was time to upgrade. He invested in a new Komatsu PC300, equipped with the latest Trimble Earthworks technology, giving his team the precision and reliability they needed on site.
Next, Tom decided to work directly with SBA for all of his attachment requirements. This enabled him to work directly with our team for any custom jobs, confirming build times and other important information. He saw the benefit in this, as attachment lead times and cost were reduced.
Since upgrading the fleet and partnering with SBA, Ridgeworth Civil has seen substantial improvements in its day-to-day operations. The new equipment has boosted efficiency across the board, enabling Tom’s team to take on more complex and larger-scale projects. Supplier delays are now a thing of the past, and Tom has peace of mind knowing he can rely on prompt service and high-quality equipment. Tom has also rebuilt and strengthened relationships with trusted suppliers, which have played a crucial role in keeping projects smooth and clients happy.
Reflecting on his experience, Tom shared, “I’ve seen your products over and over again—they’re fantastic. Once I knew I could order directly from SBA, I stopped using the dealership. Every time I’ve asked for something, it’s turned up quickly.
