Introduction

For the last two years, SBA has been working closely with Sydney-based civil earthworks company First Civil Pty Ltd to improve efficiency and reduce wasted time on their sites. By replacing their heavy excavators to Komatsu machines and upgrading to the Komatsu Quick Hitches, powered by the Geith technology, they have achieved significant productivity gains. The Challenge

Like many companies in the Civil Earthworks sector, First Civil faces daily challenges that can impact project timelines and profitability. General Manager, Samuel Mitchell, identifies two primary concerns:

  • Machine and Attachment Downtime: Breakdowns and maintenance issues with machinery and attachments can lead to significant delays and loss of productivity. The process of manually changing attachments is time-consuming and can pose safety risks.  
  • Weather Conditions: Unpredictable weather can disrupt operations, impacting scheduling and potentially causing damage to equipment and work sites.

To combat the issue of machine downtime and improve efficiency, First Civil implemented SBA’s Quick Hitches across their fleet.
